Mother's Day, 5 Months & Celebrating 3 Years!
We've had a ton to celebrate this past week. I celebrated my first official Mother's Day last Sunday. We started the day off early for a great cause. It's become a tradition that every year we participate in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure with the Shemon women. We joined the sea of people to run the Mother's Day 5k early in the morning, but I couldn't have asked for a better way to start the day. The weather was absolutely stunning, and we were in great company.
After the Race, we came home to get ready for our next adventure... Target Field for the Twins game. It was the ideal day for a 1pm game, sunny and hot! I found out this is not the ideal day for a 5 month old. We got to our seats, loaded Harps up with sunscreen and put on her new sunhat. The National Anthem started... so far so good. Once we sat down and started baking in the sun, Harper started my favorite loud screeching. We headed up to the top to stand to watch the game and try to calm her down. After an inning of standing, we headed back down to our seats to try round 2. Shortly after sitting down, the screeching started up again. We went back to the top of the stairs, out of the sun to stand some more. After the 4th inning, I thought my back was going to break and we decided our time at Target Field was over for the day. We packed up all of our bags and headed for the car. I think it was just a little too hot for Harper, and there was no shade to escape to by our seats. We'll keep trying, and someday she'll enjoy the game. I'll also enjoy being back in the comfort of my seat! :)
The boys were fishing all weekend, and got home late Sunday. I think Mitch was a little more excited to Harper than me, but I understood. It was a long weekend without him home, so we were happy to have him back! It sounds like they had a successful fishing opener, which helps. It was also not freezing cold, snowing, or sleeting which is an added plus. My favorite thing about fishing opener is the walleye that gets sent home. You know what means? Fish fry in a couple of weeks!!
As I mentioned, this week was full of reasons to celebrate! On Tuesday, Harper had one of her "birthdays." She is officially 5 months old! I can't even believe how fast the last 5 months have gone, and she just keeps getting bigger and bigger. We're getting tons of giggles and a good belly laugh every once in awhile especially when you tickle her. She's rolling over like crazy, and recently discovered her toes. Everything still goes immediately to her mouth, but we're still waiting on those teeth. We can't go anywhere without her toy keys or her Elmo, they are pretty much her life-line when she's in her carseat! She's been such a ray of light into our lives, and we're thankful for her everyday!
Wednesday, Mitch and I celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary! Most of the day Wednesday, I kept thinking back to what we were doing on that day 3 years ago. It was an unforgettable day, celebrating our new life together with family and friends! We decided to enjoy an anniversary dinner, while Granny Deb & Grandpops Bob watched Harper. Pittsburgh Blue was on the agenda, and it was incredible. I haven't had a good steak and long time, and oh how I appreciated the deliciousness of the food. We got to enjoy a nice dinner, without Elmo's or screeching. It was lovely, and I realized just how blessed I am with our amazing family!
3 Years Later
The rest of our week, we spent preparing for our crazy weekend. Harper is getting baptized on Sunday, so we're having a little get together after Church. That means cooking and cleaning! Mitch's brother Matt and his wife Jenny are in town from CA for her big day. We're excited to have Harper finally meet Uncle Matt, outside of the hospital. It will be his first time holding her. If that's not a photo op, I don't know what is!
Enjoy your weekend, and soak up this gorgeous Minnesota spring weather!
Until next time...
