Halloween Is So Magical

Magic, magic, magic. I've always been a sucker for Halloween. When you mix candy, pumpkin carving and costumes it's nearly the perfect holiday. This Halloween is extra special since it's Harper's 1st. Even though she isn't old enough to appreciate the grand experience that Halloween brings, and enjoy all the treats - she still needs to sport a costume. To get into the Halloween spirit, we carved pumpkins Monday night. Clearly a 10 1/2 month old doesn't get too pumped up about carving night, but she did check out the pumpkin guts, and liked looking at the finished products. Mitch opted to free hand his best Elmo, I was inspired by Pokemon for my pumpkin, and we also carved a mini version of Harper. It was another successful year of pumpkins!

Since the last 10 months we've been re-introduced to Sesame Street and can practically sing every song from Elmo Sings With The Stars, it only seemed appropriate for Harper to go as one of her favorite monsters - Abby Cadabby. For those of you who aren't familiar, here is what the fun-loving furry monster looks like.

We got Harper dressed in her best tutu, fairy wings, magic wand and Abby Cadabby hat and poof - she was ready for Halloween! We did a little trick-or-treating at both of our parents house and around to a few neighbors to show off our cute lil' fairy. Her Elmo bucket was filled with her favorites - yogurt covered raisins, teddy grahams, books and other fun treats! It was certainly a fun night for us all!

REACH was also in the Halloween spirit today! A few of us in the office pulled together last minute costumes, and I was certainly impressed with our crew! From super heroes, to pilots, cheating cyclists to doctors, geisha's to whoopee cushions, Hunger Games characters to Sesame Street characters - we had it all covered!

Last week, Harper spent Thursday night with her new buddy Abby. Mitch and his co-worker Andrew put on their purple and gold and headed to Mall of America field to cheer on the Vikings. Amanda came over and helped me with the girls, and we had a blast! Abby is such a sweet 5 month old girlie! I forgot what it was like to have a baby who didn't crawl and get into everything! She was so content sitting in the Bumbo taking in the surroundings. Harper enjoyed her playmate for the night!

Now that the trick-or-treaters have come and gone... that leaves a bucket a goodies for Mitch and I to eat. We always buy way too much, and it might be intentional. Looks like we'll be eating Baby Ruths, Skittles, and Butterfingers for the next week! Hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween!

Until next time...
The Helleen's
