Whirlwind Weekend

This past weekend has been go, go, go for us. It's finally 6pm on Sunday and we're able to sit on the couch and relax, which feels incredible.

Last Saturday we headed up to St. Cloud to celebrate Madison's 4th birthday! She had a Disney Princess themed party, down to the cupcakes. We had such a great time visiting with the Medford and Malat families. We scarfed down an amazing Taco Bar, watched Mads open some very fun gifts, and socialized with friends.

Last Sunday we ventured to Mall of America again, on a mission to find Harper some outfits for her 3-month photography session. I found a dress at Baby Gap that I was slightly obsessed with, the only problem was every store we went to didn't have her size. We didn't have the option of ordering it online since I had waited last minute to start shopping. Luckily, Macy's never disappoints. When we walked into the store, I immediately had my arms full of adorable spring-time dresses - how was I ever going to choose? We walked out happy campers with 3 adorable outfit choices, one that will also be used as her Easter dress. While at MOA, we were also planning to look for a new computer. Our old Apple was on its last legs and it was about time for an upgrade. After reviewing a few different options with the Apple employee, we walked out with a new MacBook Pro. It's so nice to have a computer that has a battery life more than a few minutes. I was giddy opening the box, and we've been so happy with it so far! We were even able to transfer everything from the old computer to the new one with just a few clicks. That saved us SOOO much time!

Our new computer! :)

This past week flew by. We didn't have too much going on, but it seemed like before we knew it - it was Friday! Early in the week, we had to say goodbye to the Accent. When I was in college I got my first car, a 2004 Silver 2-door Hyundai Accent. I loved this car, it was perfect. Once we found out we were pregnant with Harper we knew we had to start shopping for a new car, because a 2-door just wasn't practical for us anymore. We thought we'd just keep it as a third vehicle option, but after it sitting at the end of our driveway for a few months without being used we realized it deserved a new home. We ended up selling it to the Shemon's for Maddie, so I'm happy to know my "Ladybug" (that was my nickname for the Accent) is in good hands!

Friday was also a big day! It was the premiere of The Hunger Games! We have had our movie tickets for a few weeks now, and I was thrilled the day had finally come. I have a few co-workers that are equally as obsessed with the series. Earlier in the week we decided to go get t-shirts to wear Friday in honor of the premiere. Yes, we're in our 20's... not tweens. Don't judge. I also had a brilliant idea to make Harper a onesie to wear Friday with the rest of us. Thank goodness for iron-on transfers.

Friday night we got to Maple Grove AMC an hour early and stood in a ridiculous line to enter the theater. I was still wearing my Mockingjay t-shirt I wore to work, yep - I'm a hardcore fan. I was a little embarrassed when a 13 year-old said "OMG, where did you get your shirt?" I was even more embarrassed to respond, "Hot Topic." They started filing us in theater 8, and immediately the seats started to fill up. The show was sold out, which wasn't surprising. There was so much hoopla about this movie, but I knew it could never be as good as the book. Mitch, Austin, Deb and myself enjoyed the 2 1/2 hour rendition of The Hunger Games. It was pretty good, but as I expected the book usurps the movie. It was still very entertaining, and I thought they did a nice job including as many details as they could. I'm excited for the next few movies to come out!

Saturday morning came early. We had plans to go down to St. Paul River Centre for the Donny Smith Motorcycle Show. We got Harper dressed in her best Harley Davidson gear, and we were on the road! We walked around the show admiring some beautiful bikes and amazing paint jobs. We even saw my Dad's bike that was on display. It's always a fun show to attend, and GREAT people watching! Harper enjoyed herself and received plenty of compliments on her swag.

After the bike show we had a nice lunch downtown St. Paul at Great Waters. We got home shortly after 3pm, and Harper and I caught a few Z's on the couch. I had plans to go to the Osseo Boys Basketball game with my Mom and Amanda - we were meeting at my parents at 5:30pm to head downtown Minneapolis for dinner followed by cheering on the Orioles for the State Championship! We had drinks and food at Hubert's and then headed into the Target Center to cheer them on! Back in 2001 when I was in high school, Osseo won the State Championship and they repeated that last night! It was pretty fun game to watch, and ended in dramatic fashion with a game-winning buzzer beater shot. It's so cute to see a team so excited, and the pile of bodies in the middle of court. The fans were roaring, and the overall atmosphere was incredible. Way to go Osseo, 2012 State Champs!

We woke up this morning ready for Harper's 3-month photography session with Misty May Photography. We had her three dresses with matching headbands ready to rumble - I was just hoping our experience would be better than her newborn session. I'm excited to report, it was much more successful. We started off trying to get a few family shots, but with little success. She made it pretty clear that she wanted it to be "the Harper show." Once we put her on her back and let her do her own thing she was all smiles. She got some great shots of our roly-poly smily girl. If it wasn't for the Elmo toy we had, all of our pictures would be of Harper eating her dresses. It was a great distraction, and worked wonders for us. We should have the proofs back within 2-3 weeks, and we can't wait to see them!

After a long, busy weekend we're ready to veg out on the couch for the rest of the night!

Until next time...
The Helleen's
