The Hunger Games

I've never really been an avid reader. I seem to prefer television over a good book - I know, I know that's horrible but I'm just being honest. I always have great intentions of reading books before I see the movie in the theater, but I've only been successful a handful of times. There has been so much buzz lately about "The Hunger Games." I sort of brushed off all the buzz until I started to hear co-workers discussing the storyline, talk show hosts rave about the series, and movie critics give wonderful reviews. After that, I decided to give in and give the trilogy a shot. To say "I'm hooked" is an understatement. It's certainly a page-turner that I can't seem to put down. I finished the first book today, and immediately had to make a Target run to pick up the second book in the series! At this point, I have a major crush on Peeta. TEAM PEETA! I can not wait to see the movie, and see how this tale unfolds in the remaining books.

Last Saturday I started my morning in the crowded gym at Life Time Fitness for Cardio Kickboxing. I love that class, but it's just soooo crowded. When I got home we spent time lounging around until dinner time. We were meeting Mitch's family at Jake's City Grille for a birthday celebration dinner. We all gathered around the large table at the restaurant enjoying each other's company and our delicious food. Mitch and Jennie even got a free birthday sundae - I ended up eating the majority of Mitch's portion. We ended the night with gifts and lemon cake at the Helleen's.

Sunday we woke up and put together Harper's latest gadget - her Winnie The Pooh Jumper. Here tip toes are just shy of brushing the ground, but soon enough. She still loved sitting and looking at all the toys that surrounded her. She would press the buttons to make the music play - but it hasn't quite clicked that it's her actions causing those sounds. She immediately had a love affair with Eeyore. She just stares at him, focusing trying to figure out how to get him! That afternoon we made out way to Albertville Premium Outlets to do a little clothes shopping for Miss Thang! Her 0-3 month clothes are starting to get a little snug on that belly of hers. We found some wonderful deals, end of the season clearances might be my favorite. I actually found her a shirt that rag up $.79 after all all was said and done. AMAZING! We added to our 3-6 month clothing collection, and even grabbed a few 6-9 month items for this summer. She is on her way to a great Summer wardrobe.

This week we didn't have anything special on our calendar. Most of our evening were spent hanging with Harper and both of our noses buried in our books once we was down for the night. My Mom decided to try to do her own photo-shoots this week, and ended up snapping some pretty cute photos!

We hit another milestone this week! Harper is officially 12 weeks! It seems crazy to think she is a few days away from 3 months! Time is just cruising. Everyday we love waking up to her smiling face! We can't wait to get home from work to hang out, and our weekends are filled will extra Harper time. She is responding more and more to our voice and facial expression. She is getting to be so much fun! We can't wait for the fun to continue!

Until next time...

  1. When Ryder was too short for his jumper, we put a board game under his feet and then it made the "ground" just high enough that he could start using those legs to jump. Worked great for us!
