March Madness
It's that time of year again, March Madness. First, I should start out saying (or bragging) that I'm the defending champion in both my work and family's NCAA brackets. This year, that will not be the case I can promise you that. Unfortunately I had Missouri beating the rest of college basketball nation, and with their dramatic loss last night to Norfolk State I will not have the thrill of winning back to back bracket titles. With two 15 seeds beating out the top contenders last night, this year truly is madness.
Another bit of March madness has been our unusual weather. This past week we flirted with 60 and 70 degree temperatures. Many records were broken, and a stretch of 4-5 days of 70+ degrees is in our future. I don't hear too many people complaining. We're all soaking it up while we can, digging out our short sleeves and open toed shoes. In the back of our minds we know that in a blink of an eye old man winter could return.
With the nice weather Mitch, Harper and I have been getting outside after work for a little run. When I walked into work on Monday, there was a line of Graco products outside our conference room. Booster seats, a car seat and a jogging stroller sat abandoned. Tyler (a co-worker of mine), his wife is a sales rep and has to call on Graco. They send product to her for photoshoots, etc. and she is stuck with the merchandise. Since their kids are too old to use any of it, and with the recent baby boom at work he decided to bring it for us to have. How cool is that? I grabbed the jogging stroller since it's something we've been looking at every time we walk through the doors at Babies R Us. We've had it for less than a week and it's already gotten plenty of use!
Over the past week we've also noticed Harper's love for Elmo. Both of our parents let use know last week that they were watching Sesame Street, and when Elmo came on the TV - Harper went wild! Naturally we immediately went out and bought her a "My First Elmo" and a couple Elmo's World DVD's. For those of you familiar with the show, Mitch and I are in agreement that Mr. Noodle might be the creepiest character ever. Harper doesn't seem to mind. We've been watching the same DVD for a while, and I'm pretty sure Mitch could recite the script word for word. I imagine we'll all be singing the songs sooner than later! Below is a quick snippet of Harper watching Elmo and the little screech she makes!
This morning I realized just how much things change when you become a parent. I had been receiving emails all week about Babies R Us 1-day sale on Pampers. It was pretty much advertised as a "deal of a lifetime" getting $25 off when you buy two boxes. Count me in. Mitch and I got up early enough so we could get there when it opened. We walked through the doors shortly after 9am to see other parents pushing multiple carts with boxes full of Pampers. We grabbed our 4 boxes and headed for the checkout. I felt so excited about our deal, yes about diapers. I'll say what you're thinking... nerd alert.
We're heading to St. Cloud this afternoon to celebrate Madison's 4th birthday! I can't believe she is already 4 - it seems just yesterday we were anticipating her arrival. Now we're waiting for Medford Baby Boy in July!
Until next time...
