Baby Proofing

Remember how I said we were really excited Harper was crawling? I'm starting to second guess that opinion. Kidding, but honestly - our little Curious George is everywhere and getting into everything! She thinks anything that's eye level is free game. Slobber filled books, DVD's, computer chargers, video games, and framed photos have been taken from her this past week. We've been following her around like a little puppy saying, "No Harper." She just turns flashes this adorable smile and a smirk that says, "You can't say no to this face!"

With hot wheels on the go, this past weekend was dedicated to baby proofing this house! The upper level stairs were our biggest concern. We spend most of our time upstairs playing, and I wanted to make sure we made it clear that the stairway is off limits. Harper was Mitch's sidekick putting together the gates. I'm sure she was in the way more than actually helping the assembly. Instead of stepping in, I just decided to snap pictures. Typical, I know.

Harper proof!

Besides crawling, Harper's newest trick is pulling herself up on her knees and occasionally to her feet. With the new trick, we've experienced a few bumps and tears. She's slipped a few times and bonked her head or falls to her belly. We try to prevent the tears by cheering her on, chanting "good job!" or "yeah!!!" Sometimes it works, other times... not so much. Anything she can grip with those little fingers, is an invitation to grab and pull herself up. It's amazing how each day she seems to get stronger and better at her tricks. She's been sitting on her knees a lot and trying to balance, it's pretty entertaining to watch.

This past weekend was beyond low key for this family, which is exactly what the doctor ordered. After a whirlwind weekend last week, it was nice to sleep in a little, lounge in my jammies and be a little lazy. The weather has still been nice and toasty, so we spent a little time outside. Sunday, we decided to walk up to Freeziac and treat ourselves to some frozen yogurt. On the way home we decided to detour to Rainbow Foods and do a mini grocery store stop. We only needed to get "the essentials" but in the end we had to kick Harper out of her stroller and use it push our groceries home. It was such a nice day, we enjoyed our little field trip!

A few weeks ago a group of us at work decided to enter the lottery to run the Twin Cities 10-Mile in October. Today, we found out we got into the race - so it's time for me to get my booty in gear and start training and on a regular workout routine. I've taken a good few months off, and it's certainly starting to show. I'm thankful we got into the race, that way I'm forced to work out. It all started tonight when I forced Mitch to join me in the 30-Day Shred DVD. Jillian Michaels is one tough cookie, and I think it was harder than Mitch expected. Hopefully we can keep this up, and dust off those running shoes!

Until next time...
