Crabby Pants

Hello mood swings, and I'm not talking about me. It's amazing to me how quick a 16 month olds mood can change. One minute, things are great. We're playing, having a good ol' time - all smiles and giggles. One second later something upsets little miss and we do a complete 180. She's only 1. I can only imagine teenage Harper at age 16. That seems terrifying. Good thing I have a while before I need to worry about it. Yikes.

Today we celebrated the blushing bride to be... Ashley! Ashley and Mitch's cousin Tom are getting married in June, so today Deb hosted a lovely shower. Harper enjoyed all the extra attention, and ran around like she owned the place. We visited with the guests, watched Ashley open her awesome gifts and ate some great food. Needless to day, I overate which I tend to do at showers like this. I seriously think I had an entire bag of chex mix and a pound on M&M's. That doesn't even include the mimosas and lunch I had. It was a fun way to spend this rainy/snowy Sunday afternoon - it kept our mind off this awful weather. Let the countdown to Tom & Ashley's big day begin!

This week marked week 2 of swim lessons for our little fishy. It was another successful 30 minute session. Harper really has the splashing down. After just a few minutes in the pool, I had water dripping off my nose courtesy of Harper. We've been working on blowing bubbles in the bathtub and making our "monkey cheeks" face (it's pretty much holding your breath and puffing out your cheeks). She still seems pretty fearless in the pool, so that's good. Bring on week 3!

Harper also showed us a new trick this week. She can officially climb up on our couches by herself. She thinks she's pretty hot stuff sitting on the couch like a big girl. I snapped a few pictures of the nudie booty being a big girl on the couch. She was making herself at home, lounging.

I know I live in Minnesota and I should just accept our extended winters when they happen. Maybe we've been spoiled the last few years with mild winters and early springs. But honestly, measurable snow mid-April is not okay. Mitch is supposed to start softball this Tuesday, and my golf league is supposed to begin Thursday. Since the ground is covered with a few inches of snow, I don't see that happening. Hopefully by May we'll be able to partake in our usual spring events. Here's hoping!! All I know is everyone is a little over winter, and our patience is running thin. WE NEED SUNSHINE!

Until next time...
The Helleen's
