Sesame Street Live

Last night Mitch and I took Harper down to the Target Center for Sesame Street Live's "Can't Stop Singing" show. Mitch was able to get cheap tickets through work, so we thought it might be a fun thing to try with her. I knew Harper only being a few days shy of 13 months might not last the entire 90 minutes, but we went into the night with an open mind.

Harper and I put on our favorite Elmo shirts to get ready for the show. My Mom is the only person I know who would buy her 27 year old daughter a bedazzled Elmo shirt for Harper's 1st Sesame Street Live - and that's why I love her. We all bundled up to face the chilly temps and made our way downtown Minneapolis to see Elmo!

We walked through the doors of the Target Center, and Harper was immediately pointing to all her favorite characters. There were interactive stations set up everywhere, for kids to play and for crazy parents (like myself) to take a zillion photos. She was too infatuated with the giant cut outs to actually look at me for a picture. Before taking our seats, we walked from monster to monster so Harper could push the red button and clap when they started talking. They announced the show would be starting, so we headed to our seats.

The lights went dim, the music started and the entire Sesame Street community took the stage. Harper had a perfect view, and was in sensory overload! She kept pointing to the stage, like she was saying, "OMG - look it's actually Elmo and Abby!" She sat on our laps the entire show. 90 minutes and a few handfuls of Goldfish crackers later we were all clapping that Elmo and Abby finally reversed the singing spell. We survived our first live show, and actually made it through the entire duration! Mitch and I have realized our future at these events - purchasing over-priced souvenirs and programs, and possibly enjoying the show more than our own child. It was so fun to see Harper get so excited, and I know we'll cherish these memories. It's safe to say, our 1st Sesame Street Live was a total success.

Before our wild night of Sesame Street Live, it was a girls morning. We were on a mission to find Jennie the perfect wedding dress. I love weddings, that's actually an understatement. The planning process is so fun. When Jennie invited me to tag along, there was no way I was going to miss it. It's such an exciting time, and I love that I get to experience her joys along the way. We made it to The Wedding Shoppe a little before our 9am appointment - so the four of us sat in the van discussing our recent pins on Pinterest. (Seriously, where was Pinterest when I got married!) When the doors opened, crowds of women shuffled their way into the dress shop.

Jennie was introduced to her consultant for the morning, and we marched upstairs to start trying on! We actually got our own little private nook which was awesome. She went in with an open mind, and tried on several different styles. Within an hour Jennie found the absolute perfect dress. She looks stunning, and it couldn't be more perfect. Afterwards, we celebrated her "saying yes to the dress" at the Twisted Fork. Mimosas were flowing, and we all enjoyed a spectacular breakfast. Let the wedding countdown begin!

Until next time...
