Christmas Spirit
Helloooo December. Can you believe it? December already. It's always been a busy month, and adding Harper's birthday to the mix this year makes it even more special. This past weekend we finally put the finishing touches on the holiday decor around the house. Harper helped a little by carrying the Santa Yoda bobblehead around, she couldn't let go of the little green Jedi master.
There is a Schumer family Christmas tradition that Mitch and I have carried on since we started a family of our own. Each year we purchase an ornament representing something that happened over the last year. I'm still searching for the right ornament for us, but it was pretty easy to find Harper's. Yep, you guessed it... Elmo! He happens to be snowboarding which I find pretty comical, but it was the only one we've seen so far - so I snagged it while it was available. Now that the house is Christmas-fied, it's time to bring on the holiday festivities!
We received the CD of pictures from Harper's 1-year photo shoot Monday, and as always - we were absolutely thrilled. Again, I want to thank Kristen Anne Photography for the magnificent photos! We had a great afternoon at Walker Art Center, where she captured pictures that completely melt my heart, and a few "classic" Harper faces. It's hard to pick favorites, but I've shared a few below. Enjoy!
With the Christmas gifts moved downstairs, Harper hasn't been able to open any more presents - so lesson learned. She still tests her limits with the ornaments on the tree upstairs, but seems to be getting the hint they are a "no no." Every once in a while she flashes her sly grin and I have turn away to giggle. She's walking more and more everyday, and is really starting to get the hang of it. It's been so fun the last couple weeks to see how quickly her skills have progressed. It's clear she is a girl on the move, and there is no stopping her.
This weekend we're excited that Matt and Jen are coming in from California. With them home, we're able to celebrate Christmas early and have them here for Harper's 1st birthday. I know I probably say this every week, but seriously this is the best time of the year. Being able to spend time with each other, our family and friends - sharing laughs, wonderful food and exchanging gifts is truly a blessing. We're very lucky!
Until next time...

This one just makes me laugh, she looks terrified. |
