Time Flies When You're Having Fun
6 weeks. Yep, that's right... Harper is already 6 weeks. It's insane. I know it sounds ridiculous, but I feel like she is getting big so fast. From what I hear, time only starts to go by even quicker as the years progress. I'm not sure I'm ready for that. I keep telling people, I like the fact that I can lay her down in the living room and go do something quick around the house knowing she isn't going anywhere. Before you know it she'll be turning over, crawling around, and strutting around the house. Yikes.
We've been spending part of our days focusing on tummy-time. She is getting better at holding her head up, but sometimes thinks it's just a time to relax and take a snooze. We'll keep working.
Harper has also been babbling a lot lately. We're hearing new sounds all the time. She started smacking her tongue and lips together to make a "popping" noise. It's pretty fun to watch! As I've mentioned before she is a gal of many faces. I took a few pictures the other day and within a matter of minutes captured three different expressions. Mitch and I say we could sit and stare at her all day and be content.

This week we also had a couple of visitors. My co-worker and his wife had their first baby two weeks before Harper was born. We actually shared the same due date initially. Ellen and Emily stopped by to visit us on Tuesday. It was fun to have our first "play date" even though the girls mostly slept. I imagine they'll get more productive as they get older. It was great to chat with Ellen and swap stories and experiences. We really enjoyed their visit and plan to have more in the future!
I had my 6-week follow up doctor's appointment today. They told me my incision looked great, and I've healed nicely. I got the "Okay" to start working out again, so that's the plan... if I can find the time! This afternoon we headed to Elm Creek again to watch Austin ski. It was another decent day here in Minnesota, so we thought we'd cheer him on! He did great, and it was fun to get to be a spectator again! Harper slept most of the time, but we still got to put her in a cute hat!
Before we left for the ski meet, I was trying to find a hat that fit Harper's head. There is an adorable Baby Gap hat we have in her closet, and I thought I'd try it on her. Unfortunately it's still a little big, but she looked too cute... I had to snap a picture. It just happens to be my new favorite photo. The expression on her face is priceless.
Since we didn't make it down to REACH last week, we're heading down tomorrow to have Harper meet the co-worker's. I'm pretty excited to see everyone! Sunday, Mitch's college room-mate and his family are coming by to visit! We have seen the Husfeldt's in quite some time, so we're looking forward to that. The rest of the weekend, we're just lounging around soaking up some family time!
Until next time...
